Is it open when you need it, and can you park?

On parking, “street parking available” and “undercover parking at the door” are very different experiences on a Saturday night.

It also helps if the venue shows its roster online, so you can see who is working before you leave, and takes both walk-ins and bookings. Think about when you’d really go, whether that’s a weekday lunch or 1am on a Saturday, and check the venue is open then.
